Chromebooks for Friensdwood High...

#2137
Taggart, Candice
Chromebooks would be used by the athletic training student aid program, the sports medicine class and athletes. Students in the sports medicine class complete several in class projects through out the year including design your own athletic training room and an injury information poster. Designing your own athletic training room includes putting together a list of supplies within a given budget. Students would use Chromebooks to shop around the athletic training vendor websites to find the best deals on their supplies. For the injury information poster, student will choose an injury they learned about in class and do further research on that injury using the Chromebooks. They will learn how to filter information on the internet and how to know which sites are reliable when researching injuries. During the anatomy unit students would use Chromebooks to explore a 3D body on interactive websites such as biodigital human. In the athletic training room athletes could use Chromebooks to check in for treatment, assess their personalized rehab protocols and record what they completed. Athletes could have a document created by the athletic trainers that outlines their specific rehab exercises that includes hyperlinks to demonstrations of the exercises. The student athletic training aids would use the Chromebooks to access documents and information such as switch forms and game assignments through our Friendswood sports medicine website. They could also use the Chromebooks as a tool to look up information to complete challenges that they are presented with through out the year. The challenges range from injury scenarios to fun facts about the history of the Friendswood sports medicine program.

Students with special needs often struggle to manipulate iPads, especially if they struggle with motor skills. These big grips iPad cases provide a protective case for the iPad but also a chunky grip to assist those who need assistance with fine motor, as well as a matching stand for students with mobility needs. The stands also provide for hands-free learning and instruction.

Sensory Glow- Arielle Downing

Black lights provide a sensory experience for individuals who have visual sensory processing disorders. A blacklight area would be an updated addition to the Transition Center's sensory room. Students will have the opportunity to have sensory breaks throughout the day, which helps overstimulation they may experience.
