InSite is the leading impact monitoring system in football. Each system will monitor the individual players for impacts that might normally go undetected. Each helmet will analyze the data from each impact and through the online data collection system, the Athletic Trainers can see information such as the location of the impact on the head, the force of the impact, the specific drill or play the impact to place in. All of this information will help take care of our athletes, increase safety at practices, and serve as a learning tool for our student athletic training aides.

The QUEST students at FHS engage in everyday living skills while working daily in the MUSTANG BISTRO. And when they work, they make a mess - don't we all when we make incredible meals, conduct science experiments and create amazing ARTS & CRAFTS. When it is time to clean up, the current sink presents challenges for even the teachers and staff, it is just too small to facilitate cleaning up large pots/pans/dishes. Our special needs students need a sink that is accessible to them with ease so they can develop the skill. Everyday our students run the MUSTANG BISTRO COFFEE CART, serving staff and students fresh coffee, teas, hot chocolate, assorted snacks and homemade muffins. At cleanup time, only one pot will fit in the current sink. With the GRANT we are seeking, our efforts to SERVE & LEARN will truly be UNSINKABLE: both academically, but more importantly SOCIALLY as we reach out across the FHS Campus to make our school a COMMUNITY!!!

The student-athletes love to have their names in the top ten of the events we test for overall strength and conditioning. It breeds a sense of pride and competition in the teams when they see that they are ahead of their friend and teammate on the record board, or when a teammate is just in front of them. These record boards will also have "All-Time" record holders for the best in each exercise. This holds a goal for all athletes, male and female to strive for and to push themselves to get better everyday.

The Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Biomedical Science program at FHS will be entering its fourth year in 2019-20, and students in Health Science will have the opportunity to take the Biomedical Innovations capstone course for the first time. In the final course of the PLTW Biomedical Science sequence, students build on the knowledge and skills gained from previous courses to design innovative solutions for the most pressing health challenges of the 21st century. It is the goal of this grant to provide the laboratory equipment necessary for students to address topics ranging from public health and biomedical engineering to clinical medicine and physiology. They have the opportunity to work on an independent project with a mentor or advisor from a university, medical facility, or research institution. By participating in the PLTW Biomedical Science program, we hope to “facilitate student learning and experience to prepare future-ready students for a global society and prepare students for the college or career of their choice.” (FISD District Improvement Plan) This equipment will be used by students in the PLTW Principles of Biomedical Science, Medical Interventions, and Human Body Systems courses as well.
